At Leaf and Stone, we host creative and community-focused events designed to inspire and connect. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill or simply share your love of plants, there’s something here for you.
Macramé Workshops with Steph – Thrive with Craft
Macrame is a type of fibre art that uses cord knotted in patterns to create plant hangers, bags, jewellery, and stunning wall hangings. It’s brilliantly flexible and encourages mindfulness, wellbeing, and patience.
We are over the moon to offer our first short course of 3 x 1 ½ hours sessions over 6 weeks. You will be led by Steph, who will introduce you to the basic knots and share her tips and hacks to get your Macrame journey off to a flying start.
Dates of sessions 11/02, 25/02, 04/03 from 6.30-8.00pm
You will be making a plant hanger but not as you know it! Wall mounted and made from recycled cotton this hanger is practical, beautiful and kind to the planet.
This course is self-care time just for you, where you can slow the pace, connect with new people and lose yourself in the rhythm of the knotting.
Session 1
Learn about the cords and knots and have a go at the basic knots. You will be given materials to take away to practice before the next session.
Session 2
Cut the cord for our project- learn about managing cord and cord types.
Review instructions and get started.
Sessions 2 and 3 are guided, as opposed to taught, building on your practice you aren’t under the same time pressure as you are in a regular workshop. It’s a chance to check in and ask questions whilst we will work through the project together.
The potholder is designed as a kind of sampler, so that over the 3 sessions workshop you’ll learn and practice the five basic macramé knots that are the gateway creating your own wonderful pieces at home.
Session 3
Get finished! And explore the next project.
There will be time to shop the shop at each session and find the perfect pot and plant for your hangers 😊
